The Story Behind the JBO's x Johnny's Girl Collaboration
Some collaborations are planned. Others seem like they were meant to happen all along.
Long before Johnny's Girl Boutique had a storefront in Downtown Baraboo, I met Ellie from JBO's Flower Farm during Wo-Zha-Wa Days in Wisconsin Dells. I was popping up with Johnny's Girl, and Ellie was working for a local florist. She had seen one of my Instagram posts, walked over to shop, and we started chatting.
At the time, Baraboo was just an idea in the back of my mind. Nothing had been signed yet, and I wasn't sure where this dream would take me. But I remember leaving that conversation with two thoughts: I really wanted to be Ellie's friend, and maybe Baraboo was exactly where I was meant to be.
There was something so comforting about meeting another young woman who was creative, stylish, hardworking, and building something of her own in a small town. It gave me a sense of excitement and belonging before I had even officially become part of this community.
After Johnny's Girl opened, Ellie and her mom would stop into the store to shop, and every visit made me adore her even more. She's one of those people who lights up every room she walks into. Her kindness, creativity, and bubbly personality are contagious.
I even remember the day Jennifer told me she was interviewing Ellie for River. My immediate response was, "Not fair... I wanted to hire her!" That's just the kind of person Ellie is someone everyone wants on their team.
One of my favorite memories is when Ellie shared her dream of starting JBO's Flower Farm. She shared that not everyone believed in her vision. There were doubters. People who questioned whether it would work.
I knew exactly how that felt.
I told her, "Do you know how many people have told me my dreams were silly? If I had listened to them, I wouldn't be standing here four years later with a storefront."
She looked at me and simply said, "You get it."
That conversation has stayed with me ever since.
Building a small business isn't always glamorous. There are moments of uncertainty, setbacks, and plenty of outside opinions. But there is also something incredibly special about finding people who understand exactly what it feels like to chase a dream that maybe only you can see.
This collaboration isn't just about clothing.
It's about friendship.
It's about cheering one another on.
It's about celebrating women who choose courage over comfort.
It's about proving that incredible things can grow in small towns when people believe in themselves and in each other.
Every gingham print, every thoughtful detail, and every piece in this collection was inspired by the joy of slow summer days, flower fields, local markets, and the beauty of supporting small businesses that make our communities so special.
I hope that when you wear these pieces, you're reminded to chase the dream that's been on your heart. To ignore the outside chatter. To support local whenever you can. To celebrate the women around you. And to remember that the biggest dreams often begin in the smallest towns.
Thank you for supporting both Johnny's Girl Boutique and JBO's Flower Farm. Your support means more than you'll ever know.
And while you're out this weekend, don't forget to pick up a bouquet from your favorite local flower grower and stop by our Summer Daize event! There really is nothing sweeter than supporting people who pour their hearts into what they do.
With love,
